A Pedestrian Is Struck By An Alleged Drunk Driver In Midtown

A 28-year-old Sacramento woman has been arrested and charged with seriously injuring a pedestrian on the evening on July 23. The incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. at the Midtown intersection of P and 16th streets.

Police investigators are still trying to determine what led up to crash that evening. The only details that the Sacramento Police Department (SPD) has released to the public thus far is a pedestrian was struck that fateful evening. They suffered serious injuries as a result. In their statement, they also noted how the motorist suspected of having been involved immediately fled the scene of the crash after it happened.

Fortunately, witnesses were able to help police identify the party believed to have caused the near-fatal crash. They tracked her down in the hours following the crash. By the time she was booked into the Sacramento County Jail, she was facing hit-and-run, driving under the influence, obstruction and resisting arrest charges. Her bail was set at $50,000. It’s unclear if she remains locked up or when her next hearing is scheduled for.

In their public statement about the incident, the SPD noted that the pedestrian that was struck had been transported to an area hospital where they remained in stable condition. They haven’t released any further details about their identity or the nature of their injuries though.

Drunk driving affects a motorist’s fine motor skills. Drinking can cause a driver to experience blurred vision. It can impact their ability to adequately gauge their speed and how near objects that are in their path are. When coupled with the darkness of night, this all can make for an unsafe situation for pedestrians.

Pedestrians are often left with catastrophic injuries after being struck by motor vehicles. If you’re seriously hurt after having been collided into by a drunk motorist, then a personal injury attorney can hold the careless California driver who struck you accountable for their actions.
