Run To Feed the Hungry

The DBBWC team participated in the 2014 Run To Feed The Hungry over Thanksgiving weekend. Run to Feed the Hungry is owned by Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services and all net profits directly benefit the organization. The costs associated with putting on this event are kept low as a result of the generous sponsors, contributions of goods and services and through the incredible volunteer efforts of the community! This Sacramento tradition, now celebrating over 28,500 participants, is not only the largest run in Sacramento but also the largest Thanksgiving Day fun run in the country!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood Campora joined the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer for their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Sacramento, CA event on Sunday, October 19th. In addition to sending out a team of employees and their families to join the 20,000 others walking to raise awareness, our team raised $1,400 towards the overall $372,889 raised by the Sacramento event. Donations help advance groundbreaking breast cancer research, provide patients with 24/7 hotline support, help early detection and prevention, and so much more. This event is over, but you can still learn more and donate at www.cancer.org.

Walk Like MADD

DBBWC was proud to co-sponsor and participate in this year's Sacramento Walk like MADD event at the State Capital on September 12th. It was a phenomenal opportunity to help increase community awareness about a problem that has touched the lives of so many people. Walk Like MADD is MADD's signature fundraising event to help raise both awareness and funds to eliminate drunk driving. If you weren't able to participate this year, sign up to get involved and we'll notify you before next year's event!

Run To Feed the Hungry - 2014

The firm had a blast at the Run to Feed the Hungry this year. It was a cold but tremendous event and a great way to start our Thanksgiving Day. Thank you, Sacramento Food Bank, for the work you do to serve the hungry in our community. For the fifth year in a row, Joe Yates led the way with the highest individual fundraising total. This was Mr. Yates eighth year at Run to Feed the Hungry and the fifth consecutive year he has been the number one individual fundraiser out of 28,000+ participants. We are proud to say that this year team DBBWC was also the number one fundraising team. Combined, we helped to raise about 12% of all the donations brought in. The generous donations went to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services to hand out Thanksgiving dinners for folks to prepare at home in addition to the thousands of dinners served at their facility .

St. John's Program for Real Change

Saint John's is a local organization whose Program for Real Change takes women from homelessness and teaches them life skills necessary to become self-sustaining. The Program provides mental health services, parenting education, career education, and on-the-job training. Through the firm's community service program, Doing Well by Doing Good, we have established and work to grow a community partnership with St. John's. Currently, we volunteer to help prepare and serve evening meals to the residents twice a month. Our firm also co-sponsors the Program's Annual Dinner for Change, a fundraising event that helps raise awareness and necessary funds for the Program.

Special Olympics

This May, the firm volunteered to help put on the Special Olympics Track & Field event as part of our Community Service Initiative, Do Well by Doing Good. It was a beautiful day at Woodcreek High School, and the firm provided the volunteers to run the shot put event. The athletes did an amazing competitive job, and it was a gratifying experience for the volunteers from our firm. If you would like to volunteer for the Special Olympics, you can either contact the event host directly at [email protected], or contact Jonathan Hayes of our office. He will coordinate future volunteer opportunities with the Special Olympics of Northern California.
